Horror
The horror movie has to cause fear and scare. The characteristic feature is the threat of the actors by monsters, ghosts, zombies, mutants, vampires and psychos.
The threat by human beings respectively psychos is a special genre in horror films, called slasher film. Best and oldest example is Alfred Hitchcooks “Psycho” with the well known shower scene in the motel. Newer movies in the genre are “Scream” and “I know what you did last summer”.
A further genre is the psycho-horror. In the beginning we don’t know where the threat comes from and that represents the eagerness. We feel like being at panic stations, because we don’t know when the next moment of horror will come. A good example is “Blair Witch Project”.
In 1910 the first horror film was made and it is surely still well known till this day – Frankenstein. 15 years later another successful movie came in the cinema “The Phantom of the Opera”. “Dracula” is also a classic, which is popular till this day.
In the 70s another milestone of horror was set – The Exorcist, “Jaws” in 1975 and “The Hills have Eyes” in 1977 followed.
The story of psychopathic mass murderer began in 1978 with John Carpenters “Halloween”, “Friday the 13th” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street”.
Newer horror films are: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead, The Grudge, The Ring, Saw and Hostel.
