Fantasy
Fantasy films are about topics, which only exist in our fantasy and which are unthinkable in our real life.
In those movies the schema of good and evil rules and the magic is often a weapon. Apart from human beings, there are a lot of other creatures like: gremlins, dragons, trolls, orcs, pixies, elfs, monsters and dwarfs.
The best known and most successful examples for fantasy films are the “The Lord of the Rings film trilogy”, “Harry Potter” and “Dungeons and Dragons”. Other examples are: Conan the Barbarian, The NeverEnding Story, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Dragonheart, Peter Pan and The Chronicles of Narnia.
Meanwhile the genre of fantasy has risen. Now there are also fantasy series in television like Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Filmic examples are Tomb Raider, King Kong and Edward Scissorhands.
