Adventure films are about showing how audacious the leading actors are and how they cope with risky and perilous situations.
The incidents in adventure movies are very spectacular and thrilling. Sometimes the perilous actor is fighting bears or vaults with a liana over dizzy high cliffs.
There are 4 sub genres in adventure movies:
One is the knight film like “Robin Hood” with Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman and “A Knight’s Tale” with Heath Ledger.
Another sub genre is the pirate film, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Cutthroat Island and The Crimson Pirate.
Third genre is sword and sandal. Good examples are Gladiator, Alexander, Troy, Hercules and 300.
In the end there are cloak-and-sword films like Zorro, The Three Musketeers and The Man in the Iron Mask.
