Movies are the best way of entertainment, because it’s like entering in another world and forgetting the everyday life.
The movies can be subdivided in different genres, which cover the interests of every target audience. The young viewers watch for example children’s films, teen films and nature documentary. By contrast are horror films, action movies, pornographic films, thriller and war films, because they are addressed to an adult audience.
Comedies and documentary films are for the whole family.
Most of the movies are not produced in the U.S.A. respectively Hollywood like often wrongly guessed, but in India, more precisely in Bollywood. In the year 2005 they produced around 1.000 movies, so that Hollywood is the second with around 700 movies in 2005. The third is the Cinema of Nigeria, Nollywood and then Japan, China and France.
The highest-grossing movie ever was James Camerons “Titanic” from the year 1997, it brought in 1.847 Million US Dollars. The second is Peter Jacksons “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” from 2003 with about 1.130 Million US Dollars and third is Gore Verbinskis “Pirates of the Caribbean II”.
Before Titanic hit the cinema screens, Steven Spielbergs Jurassic Park was on the 1st place with 920,1 Million US Dollars. Until 1975 “Gone with the wind” was the most successful movie and achieved 10 Oscars.
Although “Titanic” was the most successful movie in the world, the German audience preferred “The Jungle Book” from 1968 with 24 Millions of visitors.
The most triumphant German movie is “Otto” from 1985. He lured 18,5 Millions of people in the cinemas. The following is “Manitou’s Shoe” from Michael “Bully” Herbig and the third also from “Bully” is “Traumschiff Surprise – Periode I”.
The first feature film, called “The Jazz Singer” was released in 1927. Produced by the Warner Brothers, he achieved an Academy Honorary Award because it was the first sound film.
