Film Music

The French poet of Romanticism, Victor Hugo, once said: The music expresses that what can’t be said and what it is impossible to hush about.”

With this declaration he hit the bull’s-eye. Music transmits us more than words can say and that’s why the Film Industry has picked the music. Bringing music in movies inspires emotions.

In love scenes for example they use slow and romantic songs, in action scenes more they are faster and more thrilling. They try to boost the feelings. A very good example is the soundtrack to James Camerons “Titanic”. Celine Dions song “My heart will go on” fits perfectly to the scene when the leading actors Jack (Leonardo Di Caprio) and Rose (Kate Winslet) stand on the bow of the Titanic and you can see that the love flows.

A movie in which the music is also very important is “Dirty Dancing”. The soundtrack to the movie had such a huge success that the theme song, sung by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, even got an Oscar.

Also known because of the theme song is “Rocky III – The Greatest Challenge”. The song “Eye of the Tiger” became a real classic and nobody don’t know Survivors song. Meanwhile there are movies in which music is the most important part. “Dirty Dancing” was one of the most crucial, even when there were other successful dance films like Flashdance, Grease, Saturday Night Fever and West Side story. Newer movies are: Save the last Dance, Billy Elliot, Center Stage, Honey, Stomp the Yard and High School Musical.

In all those movies the music and the dancing is in the foreground.
